"I Dance"- inspired by Eddie Uehara

"The reasons i dance. After i watched eddie's vids i finally discovered these. Thank you so much eddie your a major inspiration to me. The sepia tone [in the video] signifies that when i turn the music on im in another world, an alternate dimension you can say, in which you won't understand unless you dance for the love of it. Constructive critisim plz:).......Haters can hate but your words don't affect me at all. I've found something no one can ever take from me no matter how hard you try, the passion and love for dance. If any you guys were REAL dancers you wouldn't be putting people down, you would spread  knowledge to help the next generation. Im 15 years old stay tuned if you would like to see how i grow as a dancer..." July 10, 2008

Sue, as her students call her, teaches adults beginning and/or returning to a ballet class. "It doesn't matter what your special needs are,"...
"you can dance; you can express yourself."
~ DiMarco

Di Marco (the teacher) explains that his students were sometimes hesitant to join in when he first started teaching them. But now he thinks dance has given them all a confidence that goes beyond the dance studio. "It's not just to learn how to dance," he says, "but also to learn how to be who you are, and I think they're developing that very well, here, in this environment." "They're moving to music beautifully..."
"They're developing moves we didn't even know they could do!"
Has seen these kids grow into teenagers during their time here
and has been amazed by their progress.
"It's just been a beautiful thing to watch."

We found several other articles about Boston Ballet Adaptive Dance Program (above).

"A DANCER OF THE THIRD KIND"

mariosa

"Today's guest post is by Mariosa, a movement practitioner and dance enthusiast in her mid-50's. She writes about the benefits of movement from this deeper place. And as she offers her experiences, I think you will find that she is a voice of encouragement to those who feel they have the spirit of a dancer within but are perhaps daunted because they don't fit the "mold" of a dancer."
